FLOURISH NUTRITION AND CHIROPRACTIC

CHIROPRACTIC

CHIROPRACTIC

is based on the science of the relationship between structures (primarily the spine) and function (primarily the nervous system) and how this relationship can affect the restoration and preservation of health.

Relief from headaches and depression:

Chu ECP, Ng M. Long-term relief from tension-type headache and major depression following chiropractic treatment. J Family Med Prim Care. 2018; 7(3): 629–631. doi:10.4103/jfmpc.jfmpc_68_18

CHIROPRACTORS

are specialists in the care of the bones, nerves, muscles and connective tissues that make up about 60% of the human body.  All of the joints in the body are interconnected and they are part of the neuromusculoskeletal system which is required for good function and overall health.

ADJUSTMENTS

are precise, well-researched methods utilized by chiropractors to correct or reduce spinal and extremity joint subluxations. Medically speaking, a subluxation means "less than a dislocation."

Dr. Sannelli uses the ultra gentle techniques, which are safe and effective for any age group:

  • Activator Methods

  • Hesch Method

  •  Active Release Techniques

  • Upper Cervical Specific Technique

  • Flexion Distraction

VERTEBRAL SUBLUXATION

is a condition where a vertebra in the spine is misaligned and hypomobile (stuck), causing irritation to the nerves and surrounding tissues. This creates interference within the nervous system and the brain-body communication.  The primary goal in chiropractic care is to restore joint mobility, alignment and nerve function.  This has been shown to reduce pain and improve joint motion, as well as nervous system integrity.  A relaxed nervous system helps us more easily adapt to stress and life changes.

WHAT TO EXPECT

A consultation is first done to give people the time to explain how they are doing, what they are feeling, the history of their injury or illness, what their purpose is for seeking care and what their health goals are.  There is no charge for the chiropractic consultation.  Any examination fees and insurance coverage are discussed before moving forward.

A chiropractic examination is then done which is a series of postural, orthopedic, nerve and spinal alignment assessments to determine if someone has reduced motion, nerve irritation or joint imbalance.  Dr. Sannelli uses computerized spinal thermography, palpation, range of motion studies and a traditional physical examination to uncover the true mechanism of people’s pain, ailments or injuries.  Once the cause is identified, then a solution can be utilized to best restore joint, muscle and nerve function in order to help that person heal.

OUR EVALUATIONS

Our chiropractic evaluations are done primarily to evaluate joint alignment and motion, and how well the body is adapting to physical, chemical and/or emotional stress.   Pediatric evaluations are done with non-invasive imaging which is quick, computerized and painless.   Thermal scans of the spine have proven to be effective for the identification of spinal nerve imbalance and inflammation indicated by higher temperatures of spinal nerve roots.

Dr. Sannelli also evaluates muscular strength, posture, range of motions and alignment, as well as gait.  Additional evaluations are done for pregnant women, such as assessment of "Round ligament" tension which is associated with  in-utero constraint and the breech position.

Our assessments are done through the following methods:

  •  Orthopedic, neurological and postural evaluations, manual and motion palpation of the vertebral joints and extremities, muscle strength testing and leg length measurements, Activator Methods Spinal & Extremity Assessments

  • Digital Thermal scans of the spine

  • Heart Rate Variability testing to evaluate autonomic nervous system balance and healthy stress-response

  • 3D Digital Scanning of the Feet for pronation and healthy arch assessment

  • When clinically indicated, additional imaging and tests are utilized including: Radiographs, MRI, CT, nerve conduction velocity (NCV) and EMG.

  • Laboratory and/or dietary assessments may be recommended for those with chronic inflammatory conditions, arthritis, osteoporosis, neuropathies and systemic conditions.

OUR TREATMENTS

After the cause of the problem and the diagnosis are determined, a specific treatment plan is designed to correct the problem.  Lifestyle and physical exercise may also be implemented in order to fully meet patients' individual needs and health goals.  The primary treatment is the chiropractic adjustment for joint mobilization and alignment, and for the release of nerve impingement and muscle spasm. Active Release Techniques is often utilized for further soft tissue healing, pain relief and functional restoration.

The chiropractic adjustment is the application of a precise movement into the spine or extremity joint in order to reduce or correct subluxation(s).  Gentle joint mobilization or low-force release techniques are used to restore balance and remove restrictions in the musculoskeletal system.   There are a number of well-researched methods or techniques by which the chiropractic adjustment is delivered, some of which are by hand, while some may require the use of a specialized instrument.

Dr. Sannelli only utilizes what is indicated for each person’s unique circumstances and comfort level.  Her chiropractic treatments include:

  • Activator Methods® for which she is Proficiency Rated

  • Active Release Techniques® for which she is certified

  • Logan Basic Method and Cox Flexion Distraction for decompression and relaxation of the spine

  • Diversified -Traditional extremity and spinal manipulation

  • Upper Cervical Specific and Thompson Drop-Table Technique

  • Webster In-Utero Constraint Technique for pregnant women

  • Hesch Method of Manual Therapy

  • Acupressure for pain relief and the balancing of acupuncture meridians

  • Stretches and strengthening exercises for postural correction and stability

  • Therapeutic ultrasound and electrical muscle stimulation for muscular relaxation and reduction of inflammation

Relaxation techniques may also be taught to improve the stress response and to help meet patients’ and their doctors’ treatment goals.  Treatments are personalized because what might work wonders for one child or adult could be of little use to another. Among other things, chiropractic care may reduce pain and muscle spasm, increase mobility, improve circulation and nerve function and enhance quality of life.
